After enjoying financial success at the box office, From Dusk till Dawn has since become a cult film and spawned a media franchise of sequel films, a video game and other media adaptations.įugitive bank robber brothers Seth and Richie Gecko hold up a liquor store, killing clerk Pete Bottoms and Texas Ranger Earl McGraw in a shootout. The film was released on January 17, 1996, and received mixed reviews from critics, who described the film as well-made if overly violent. Starring Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Ernest Liu, and Juliette Lewis, the plot follows a pair of American criminal brothers (Clooney and Tarantino) who take a family as hostages (Keitel, Liu, and Lewis) in order to cross into Mexico, but ultimately find themselves trapped in a saloon frequented by vampires. I can't think of a modern poster artist who's style compliments Frazetta's more than Jason's does. From Dusk till Dawn is a 1996 American action horror film directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino from a concept and story by Robert Kurtzman. Jason hand created the new title design, making the final poster a true collaboration between the two great artists. Not only did the Frazetta Estate love the idea, but super popular Mondo artist Jason Edmiston came on board to design the poster and do the color separations (as he expertly did on Roger Kastel's Jaws and Bob Peak's Apocalypse Now for Mondo). Like Robert Rodriguez, I am a Frank Frazetta super fan, he's my wall time favorite artist, which lead to the idea of resurrecting Frazetta's artwork for a brand new (but classic style) screen printed movie poster. Despite not being used, the image of Frazetta's From Dusk Till Dawn painting has been floating around for a long time. Unfortunately the artwork wasn't used, possibly not having been finished by the deadline needed. I believe its the last movie poster artwork Frazetta created before he passed away (in 2010). After being commissioned by the director himself, Frazetta super fan Robert Rodriguez, the artwork was created by Frank Frazetta to be used for the official movie poster for From Dusk Till Dawn, back in 1996. This project was officially licensed through the Frazetta Estate.
